The organic flower sector is relatively young but growing rapidly. Flowers are cultivated from early spring until the first frost, with cultivation cycles following each other in quick succession, leading to intensive soil use. To grow healthy and resilient plants, a robust soil with a rich soil life is essential. Cover crops and crop rotation play a crucial role in achieving this. However, experience with cover crops in this sector remains limited. Therefore, we aim to gather knowledge from other sectors and demonstrate how it can be applied in flower cultivation, considering farm size and labor practices. The focus is on using diverse cover crop mixes to promote sustainable soil management and foster a healthy soil structure.
