The rotation of pigs on arable land within an organic farming system
An certain amount of short chain companies have a small-scale branch of pig farming in addition to their main branch with vegetable cultivation. These companies are interested in the rotation of pigs on their plots in order to create more circularity. However, an annoying problem in the past in which customers of a CSA company contracted an infestation with pig roundworms has caused a general fear and reluctance to adopt and further try this practice. That's a shame, because rotation with pigs on cropland can offer several advantages. In terms of animal welfare, but at the same time it can also mean profit at the cultivation level. With this project proposal, we want to find out whether these fears are justified, and whether the rotation with arable pigs for circularity might deserve a new chance.
